The volunteers will be helping the local people in their mangrove conservation work by making polybags for the seeds, planting mangroves, and taking care of the mangroves. The volunteers will also have a chance to join the early education program of a local school and teach the children about environmental issues.
Baros is a small village in the area of Opak river estuary. The waves of the ocean are big and dangerous, reaching height of more than 3 meters. Young people from Baros have started an initiative for the conservation of the mangrove ecosystem by planting mangrove for the purpose of protecting the area from erosion. Furthermore, the area will be the role model for mangrove conservation in the south part of Java and the centre for research of environmental issues. It will also be the place of a new ecosystem for birds, monkeys and fish.
