PHUKET, 29 April 2016 (NNT) – The Phuket administration on Thursday discussed potential cooperation between the province and China in conserving mangrove forests.
The meeting, chaired by the Deputy Governor of Phuket, was attended by officials from all sectors in the province, including the head of the Phuket Office of Natural Resources and Environment.
The Chinese government, realizing the threats of global warming, has expressed its interests to support a mangrove forest conservation project in Phuket.
Last week, the mayor of Zhanjiang prefecture in Guangdong province visited Phuket, along with other Chinese government officials and representatives from the Chinese private sector. They discussed possible cooperation in creating an environmental management system to conserve mangrove forests in Thailand.
